Frequently Asked Questions
- Model XS does not power on.
-
- Make sure Model is in the correct position: the two hooks should be in the little grooves behind the touch screen.
- The battery is discharged. Connect Model XS to the power adapter, wait a few minutes.
- Check if the power adapter cable is connected into the correct plug (“DC 5.5V”).
- Make sure the power adapter connector is plugged all the way into Model XS.
- Check if Model XS is charging: is the charging LED blinking? Model XS charges always, but the charging LED is only working if Model XS is in the correct position (hooks in right place).
- Is the correct power adapter used? Check the label on the power adapter, look for “BI Switching Power Supply” and “Output: DC 5.5V === 2A”.
- Why is the Model XS turning off after a while?
-
After one minute the device will automatically turn itself off, when it is not in the correct position.

- How do I initiate pairing?
-
- Turn on Model XS.
- Press the M button until the display shows “bLUE”.
- An “S” will blink for up to 20 seconds while searching for last connected devices.
- A “P” will blink for up to 120 seconds while searching for new Bluetooth devices to pair with.
- A “C” will display when Bluetooth device is connected.
- If pairing is unsuccessful, repeat procedure.
- What is the meaning of the blinking letters “S”, “C” and “P”?
-
- S: Searching. During the first 20 seconds Model XS tries to connect to a previously paired phone.
- C: Connected. Successful connection to a mobile phone.
- P: Pairing. If Model XS did not make a successful connection within 20 seconds, Model XS will go into the pairing mode for 2 minutes.
- Why is my mobile phone not connecting?
-
- Already connected. If the Model XS has already a Bluetooth connection to a mobile phone, it cannot connect to another phone (when Model XS connects to Bluetooth device, the display shows a “C” for a few seconds). Disable the Bluetooth on the first phone, turning the phone off is not enough in many cases.
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the phone.
- Try it again (turn Model XS off and on again).
- Remove Model XS from your mobile phone (in the Bluetooth settings) and pair your phone again.
- How to reset Bluetooth?
-
Up to eight paired Bluetooth devices can be stored. To clear the memory, perform the following steps:
- Turn on Model XS and press the M button until the display shows “Blue”.
- Within 5 seconds of entering Bluetooth mode, hold down the > button until “rESEt” displays.
- Pair your mobile phone again.
- How do I know if the battery is charging?
-
A small dot on the lower right of the display blinks slowly if the battery is being charged.
- Why is the battery not factory-installed?
-
In order to guarantee optimal battery performance, the battery is not factory-installed to prevent a complete battery discharge during shipping and storage which could adversely effect performance.
General
- Model XS will not turn on, the display shows “low” and “batt”.
-
“low” and “batt” means low battery. Connect the power adapter to the Model XS and the battery will begin charging. You can use the Model XS right away.
- The Model XS will not turn on, nothing happens.
-
If the battery is very low, there is too little power to turn on the display, even if the power adapter is connected. Model XS can be turned on after it has been connected for a few minutes to the power adapter.
- Why is the Model XS turning off after a while?
-
After one minute the device will automatically turn itself off, when it is not in the correct position.

- The Model XS does not turn on when I touch the power button (the power button is the small, round depression, referred as “O” in the user manual).
-
Touch the power button with one finger only. Don’t touch the rest of the touch panel with other fingers. The touch panel works properly when used with one finger only.
- After turning on, the Model XS turns itself quickly off and on again.
-
Model XS automatically self-calibrates the touch panel for a second time. This is the correct behavior and is nothing to worry about.
- What is the meaning of the charging LED?
-
Charging LED: dot on the lower right corner of the display.
- On: battery is fully charged.
- Blinking: needs charge soon OR battery is charging (power adapter is inserted).
- Off: battery level is somewhere between discharged and fully charged.
- How long can the Model XS run on fully charged batteries?
-
About 5 hours.

- Now you can play music on an iPhone® App “iPod” and listen to it on the Model XS.”
- How do I pair other phones and computers?
-
Go to the Bluetooth Pairing Guide.
- What is the PIN for a Bluetooth connection?
-
The PIN is: 0000 (4 zeros). Not all computers or mobile phones require a pin code during the initial setup (pairing).
- After pairing, how do I connect my mobile phone to Model XS?
-
Most phones connect automatically to the Model XS after the initial setup (“pairing”).
- Touch the M key on your Model XS until the display shows “Blue”.
- Play music on the mobile phone, music will start playing on Model XS automatically after
a few seconds. Most phones support automatic connection, some phones prompt the user if he wants to connect to Model XS.
- What is the difference between “connecting” and “pairing”?
-
- “Pairing” needs to be done only once. It is an initial setup, where Model XS is added to the list of known Bluetooth devices on your mobile phone. It is not possible to connect without initial pairing.
- “Connecting”: Every time you power Model XS on in Bluetooth mode, or you change the mode to Bluetooth, Model XS tries to connect to all mobile phones it has been paired with.
- Pairing does not work.
-
- Make sure your phone supports Bluetooth A2DP.
- Try again.

-
Make sure you turn on the “Discoverable” checkbox in the Bluetooth settings.

-
Up to eight paired Bluetooth devices can be stored. To clear the memory, perform the following steps:

- Within 5 seconds of entering Bluetooth mode, hold down the > button until “rESEt” displays.
- Pair your mobile phone again.
- When do I reset Bluetooth?
-
Resetting the pairing list makes sense, when previously paired phones are not used anymore. When many phones have been paired with Model XS, it takes longer to connect.
- I have an unreliable connection with dropouts when listening via Bluetooth.
-
- Move the mobile phone closer to the Model XS.
- Move away or turn off other wireless devices that can disturb a Bluetooth connection (for example WLAN / Wifi, other mobile phones etc.).
- Model XS connects to a phone (“C” on the display) but I can’t find this phone.
-
If a “C” is displayed, a successful connection has been made. This even happens if a phone is “off”. For example the iPhone has a black screen – it is only in standby. iPhones connect even in standby mode. Workaround: reset the Bluetooth (see above), pair again.
Charging
- How do I know if the battery is charging?
-
A small dot on the lower right of the display blinks slowly if the battery is being charged.
- How can I check the battery charge?
-
A dot on the lower right corner of the display shows the battery status:
- On: battery fully charged.
- Blinking: battery charging.
- If the battery is low, the display will also show “low” and “batt”. In this case the Model XS will automatically turn off, but it still has enough power to show the time for a while.
Battery
- Why is the battery not factory-installed?
-
In order to guarantee optimal battery performance, the battery is not factory-installed to prevent a complete battery discharge during shipping and storage which could adversely effect performance.
- How do I change the battery?
-
- Carefully open the battery lid with a flat top screwdriver or a paper clip. Using a paper clip: open it, bend the first 5mm in a 45 deg angle, push tip into the hole.

Turn the volume on the mobile phone or audio device up.
- Why is the unit louder when it is connected to a power adapter?
-
When the Model XS is battery powered, the maximum volume is limited to maximize battery life.
- XS does not sound correct.
-

- Is Model XS playing music in stereo?
-
Yes.
Alarm
- Why is the alarm not working when the case is closed?
-
The alarm does not work in this position because the device power is off. However, the clock is still running.
Radio
- A radio station has a weak reception and is noisy. What can I do?
-
- Make sure you are using the built-in telescope antenna.
- If the power adapter is plugged in: keep the power adapter cable away from antenna.
